BRK PRC710B is a state of the art smoke and CO combination alarm designed to
provide early warning of a fire or carbon monoxide danger. It features a photoelectric
smoke sensing chamber, an electrochemical CO sensor and a sealed 10-year
lithium power cell power supply that is permanently installed. The tamperproof design
will not allow the powercell to be removed. The low power warning indicator
will cause the alarm to “chirp” when it reaches the end of its service life and needs
to be replaced. Upon end of life, the unit meets UL requirements for disabling the
alarm and non-reinstallation of unit to mounting bracket. It also features a tamper
resistant locking pin that locks the alarm to the mounting bracket to prevent removal
of the alarm. Perfect for apartment, dormitory or hotel applications. The sleek,
low profile design complements any décor. Designed for wall or ceiling mounting.
Includes mounting anchors and screws.

Return buyer –
Great price, fast shipping. Manufacturing date only 2 months old. Looking forward to 10 year battery life.

Product is sound and well made. No issue with the product itself. There is an issue, however, with the installation instructions which do not completely describe the process of initializing the device. The markings on the back of the unit would lead you to believe that the plastic switch had the purpose of DEACTIVATING the alarm – and, in fact it does. But it does need to be advanced halfway to initialize. There is no indication that you must remove the plastic blocker and you can be led to assume that it is there so that you do not accidentally deactivate the device. The directions are incomplete and the printing on the back of the device incomplete or misleading as well. Write better instructions or have a good video on Youtube and refer people there. Also the product ID on the box does not match the product ID on the back of the unit. Also potentially confusing.

Easy to install and works just great.
Gary T –
Easily disabled permanently so follow activate and don’t de-activate until ten years have passed by.

The test button is cheesy. this unit is not user friendly when performing testing or resetting unless you have a copy of the operating instructions handy. Would not be a good product for a rental property. Would not purchase this item again. My advice to your engineers is spend a extra nickel and redesign the test button/reset features.

Thank you for your quick processing and shipment of my order. The code enforcement officer wanted these specific smoke/carbon monoxide detectors installed to sign off our solar panels. I’m glad I stumbled upon your company in my internet search. Thank you so much.
